Onset of neurological problems after just a few doses...

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

My female German Shepherd is 8 years old. She suddenly started having issues getting up and walking in Feb 2022.

I took her to the vet and they said she likely had hip dysplasia, even after x-rays showed no evidence of this. She continued to develop more symptoms and I took her back to the vet in June 2022 and they said she likely had spine issues. After a CT scan, they determined she had no spinal issues and no tumors, so it was probably degenerative myelopathy (which cannot be definitely diagnosed until an autopsy is done after she passes). This disease is similar to ALS/Lou Gehrig's disease in humans, and she will eventually lose the use of her back legs.

A few days later, a friend was telling me about the issues people have been having after using Simparica Trio. I started giving my girl that in January 2022, and believe it is related.

I have stopped giving her the medicine, and she has begun physical therapy to strengthen her hind leg muscles. She is still doing well, running occasionally, and she doesn't have any issues getting up, but she does still have hind leg weakness (one side only at this point) which we are hoping will get better with PT.

This happened to my dog in 2017. I didn't even think of this.

I switched to a one-pill for all Simpario trio. The Vet was saying it was neurological. No one ever said it was this. I did water therapy he got better and over a year was great.

Well, this winter I missed doses and gave them to him in April and now he can barely move his back legs, is blind, and can't hear or maybe he can't understand me. He just stares.

I asked him to sit, down, up, and spin, with his favorite treats, and doesn't know what I am saying and just keeps looking at the floor. I thought he was just ignoring me when I called him.

Seizures

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I gave this to my dog for the first time in July 2022. My dog is only barely 12months

old.

The seizures started within a week of having the first dose. She is getting cluster seizures. She is now on antiepileptic medication for life and needs bloods done every few months. I am so upset because we normally use another brand and bought this only because my normal brand was not available.

The studies of this drug confirms the high seizure rate in dogs. I wish I knew this before we gave this to her. She is still having seizures however and we are struggling to get the right medication to hopefully control them. The vet confirmed this is most likely the cause of her seizures.

The research shows however that she will most likely die within 3 years of having her first seizure. We are all devastated.

BEWARE

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I would have given it ZERO stars.

I gave my two dogs Simparica Trio on 5/17/22 per the vet. Between 5/18 & 5/22, the older one's walk had gone from normal to very unstable & he seemed confused.

The last time he was able to get on the couch on his own was 5/25 & the last time he walked on his own was the morning of 5/28. By 5/30, he needed diapers. The vet wanted to send him to a neurologist ($) for an MRI ($$) & surgery ($$$). Over the last month I have seen personality changes and his bark has even changed.

He appears to be trying to move his legs now but I think we still have a long way to go. Fingers crossed he comes out of this.

Pros:
  • No fleas or ticks
Cons:
  • Incontinence
  • Abnormal vocalizations
  • Lost ability to walk

Preferred solution: Do better testing, figure out which animals could have neurology issues (older, overweight, etc) & make it publicly known (like at the end of TV commercials, may cause wobby walk, personality changes, etc).

User's recommendation: DO NOT USE THIS MEDICATION. FIND AN ALTERNATIVE.

USE CAUTION WITH THIS MED!

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I gave my dog a dose 2/1 & 3/1/22. I noticed a personality change in her but never thought it would be associated to this preventative.

She has been having daily tremors and isn't her normal self and self isolates. She is like a totally different dog, sad, nervous and fearful acting. Breaks my heart. I.

I pray this leaves her system and hasn't caused permanent damage. I wish the vet had spoken to me about side effects and what to watch for so I wouldn't have given her a second dose.

I tried to do right by my dog so she doesn't get lymes disease to find out I am feeding her a pesticide. I am sick about this and angry it's on the market.

Vet gave us a sample for our 3 month old German Shepherd Pup ~ gave it to him on June 19th on June 22nd we had to take him back to the vet with a low grade temp, soft stools that turned into diaharra and being lethargic. I really believe it was this medicine ~ of course the vet swears up and down that if it was the meds he would have a reaction within 30 minutes. I hope this gets out of his system right away he's not the same playful pup he was before

I just gave my Pomeranian 1 dose & told the Vet he had seizures on other flea products & was told it was FDA approved & not to worry, well 2nd day noticed him having Tremors, seemed scared & would just stare at me this isn't my dog I thought because he was super energetic ran out to bark at mailman now just lays around Sad, I am so mad at myself for trusting the Vet because I am into holistic oils, medicine so I pray to God this isn't a permanent damaging effect.

We are going thru the same thing with our 8 month old poodle. He has had his last dose.

Took him to the vet 2 different times for a pulled muscle, $500 later we began to suspect his flea meds. Gave it to him th 15th of March and that night he was shaky on his feet, couldn't sleep. Now on March the 25th his is slowing getting back to feeling better. He now is holding up another leg, not broken because he runs on it at times.

We finally got to sleep some last night without him whining all night to be let out and back in, poor baby. Called my Vet's office and told them no more of this med.

When are they going to take this stuff off the Market?, this medication caused our westie to die in July 2021. I tried to hire 2 Lawyers to do something about this, but they would not take a Class Action Law Suit on, so I guess I and the rest of the people that lost and are suffering because of this drug are basically going to have to live with it because of your " Don't care attitude ", all about the money is in it?, Hopefully someone in your company has a dog that takes this stuff and gets deathly sick and almost dies or does die, then maybe you will change your attitude.

I lost my little girl because of you people, because I could not protect her from a damn pill.

I am a Viet-Nam Veteran I can protect people from being killed, but I could NOT protect my poor dog from a bad pill. I only wish she could have talked, they pretty much have to depend on their owners to keep them safe, but hard to keep them safe when you don't know what you are giving them!!

My 18 month old healthy German Shepherd was given this CRAP by the Vet. A day and a half later she had a severe seizure, 24 hours later she had another severe seizure. $1,500 later and 6 hours at the emergency Vet she is on anti seizure meds. Please do not give your animals this *** It's the most horrible thing to watch is your poor fur baby having major convulsions and you can't do a thing about it. This needs to stop! Please save our babies from suffering! You always want to do what's best for your animals, but this is NOT it.

Our 12 year old shepherd began having seizures shortly after taking this med. Went to the vet yesterday, they wanted to review his blood work before prescribing more meds. They trust you to take care of them, then you poison them with mess, infuriating and heartbreaking.

It has not developed. Company has not called, contacted two Lawyers to try to get this medication off the market to no avail, so I guess no one cares about family pets that die needlessly.

Pet Bucket has a lot of people on it that are have problems with this stuff, and yet nothing is being done, what in the *** has to happen in this country for anything to get done? Sorry Bastards.

Simparica Trio should be pulled off the market. My 4 year old Mini Aussie is suffering debilitating diarherra.

Even passing blood.

I contacted Zoetis and they simply said "Contact your vet." Shameless. Never trust a Zoetis product - ever.

Very expensive and refunds were extremely difficult to obtain. Took months of persistence with a multitude of excuses. Before completing my 12 month discounted pre-buy, I just noticed the last three tablets have expired. Therefore, they sold me a 12-month supply that expired before the 12 monthly doses were given. My vet was involved in clinical trial and recommended. I have alerted not to recommend this product as I purchased through his office.

Have not heard a word from the Company, yet they keep advertising on TV and now they actually say may cause adverse side affects or convulsions, How can the FDA along with this Company be allowed to put something like this on the market, I can not understand how...

We had a 12year old West highland white Terrier in perfect health, she was taking Nexguard and Heartguard since she was a puppy, no problems at all, a month ago our veterinarian staff suggested we change her over to Simparica because it is just one pill instead of two, so we did, a month later she started having convulsions and seizures and Died, She died because of this crap, I tried CPR, Nothing.

Warn pet owners of side effects

My Yorkie is 6.1 pounds and 8 months old. She started SimparicaTrio in March 2021. For three months my dog has had diarrhea that begins 3-5 days after I give her the flea/tick medicine. When your vet recommends this medicine what is a pet owner to do but give the med. This is expensive and I do not like paying for a medicine that could possibly kill my Yorkie. I am pissed, damn right I am! Do not be a victim! The medicine is Simparica Trio Chew tab for fleas and ticks.

spent $36 for one month to protect my dog from fleas, ticks and heart worm. It is supposed to start working in a couple hours. 5 days later I look at this white dog and it looks like fish coming to the surface of a pond and going back under. My dog looks like she is sprinkled with pepper and all sizes so I know they have been there for days. I switched cause she started scratching while on Next guard. anyadontDont Dthing actually
